PENGARUH ETHYLENEDIAMINETETRAACETIC ACID (EDTA) TERHADAP PRODUKTIVITAS DAN PERKEMBANGAN Aedes aegypti DENGAN MEMBRAN BLOOD FEEDING

Abstract


Membrane blood feeding is  an alternatif  of  mosquito blood feeding method to substiute guinea pig blood. Hemotex system is used for this method. Ethylenediaminetetraacetic Acid (EDTA) anticoagulant is chemical compound used to prevent the blood clotting process. The effectivity of EDTA applied in various doses  on the total egg, mortality rate of mosquito and remains a question. Mosquitoes were  fed with  various dose of cow’s blood i.e. 6, 7 and 8 mL / ml. The blood of guinea pig was used as a control. As mosquito control given guinea pig blood. Parameters measured were total egg, egg fertility, pupae appearance, mortality of larvae and pupae, , the metamorphosis failure from pupae to adult mosquitoes and mortality of adut mosquito. The results demonstrated that variation dose of EDTA had positive colleralition to total eggs produced. The total number of eggs produced was3210, 1310, 1437 and 1529 grains for  control,  6, 7 and 8 μl / ml of EDTA dose, respectively. . However, the variation of EDTA dose did not affect the fertility of eggs, mortality of larvae and pupae, the metamorphosis failure from pupae to adult mosquitoes and mortality of adult mosquitoes.

 

Membran blood feeding merupakan salah satu aplikasi pemberian darah pada nyamuk sebagai ganti pemberian darah marmut. Dalam aplikasi membran blood feeding digunakan sistem hemotex. Ethylenediaminetetraacetic Acid (EDTA) merupakan salah satu antikoagulan yang dapat digunakan untuk proses pencegahan pembekuan darah. Belum banyak diketahui pengaruh variasi dosis EDTA terhadap total telur, kematian nyamuk dan perkembangan stadium pradewasa Ae. aegypti. Nyamuk diberi darah sapi yang telah diberi EDTA dengan dosis 6, 7 dan 8 µl/ml. Sebagai kontrol nyamuk yang diberikan darah marmut. Parameter yang diamati adalah total telur, fertilitas telur, kematian jentik, kematian pupa, kegagalan pupa jadi nyamuk dan kematian nyamuk. Berdasarkan analisa ada pengaruh variasi dosis EDTA terhadap total telur yang dihasilkan. Total telur yang dihasilkan pada kontrol dan dosis EDTA 6,7 dan 8 µl/ml adalah 3210, 1310, 1437 dan 1529 butir. Variasi dosis EDTA tidak berpengaruh terhadap fertilitas telur, kemunculan pupa, kematian jentik, kematian pupa, kegagalan pupa jadi nyamuk dan kematian nyamuk.

Jurnal Kefarmasian Indonesia is a scientific journal published by the Center for Research and Development of Biomedical and Basic Health Technology, Board of Health Research and Development, Ministry of Health of the Republic of Indonesia. The journal publishes original research articles in pharmaceutical science such as Pharmaceutical Technology, Pharmacology, Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Traditional Medicines, and Pharmaceutical Care.

The journal was established in 2009 while online publication has been started from 2015. The journal is published in Bahasa Indonesia and English.  Jurnal Kefarmasian Indonesia is biannual, open access, peer-reviewed, and online pharmacy journal. Jurnal Kefarmasian Indonesia aims to serve the updated scientific knowledge for researchers in pharmaceutical fields. There is no charge for submitted manuscript as well as for processing manuscript.
