Abstract


ABSTRACT

Ekor kucing (Cabomba furcata) is a water plant which grow rapidly and dominate the water plant at Lake Chini.Policies to eradicate, control or develop of ekor kucing require study of the phytochemical components, whichhave proven to contain flavonoids, particularly catechin and catechol. To get hight content of both catechol and catechin from extraction, the optimization process was performed start with the selection of plants as rawmaterial and dosage forms to be used in the plant extraction. This study aims to determine the differences ofcatechin and catechol content in the green and red of ekor kucing and know the dosage form of raw materialsin the form of fresh or dried (powder). Test results showed that the green and red ekor kucing plant (Cabombafurcata) have no differences contain for both catechin and catechol. Dry raw material yield higher catechin andcatechol compare than the fresh material. The use of the mixture of methanol and water solvent gave the highestextraction results compared to water and n-Hexane.

ABSTRAK

Tanaman ekor kucing (Cabomba furcata) merupakan tanaman air yang sangat cepat berkembangbiak dan mendominasi tanaman air di Danau Chini. Kebijakan untuk memusnahkan, mengendalikan ataumengembangkan tanaman ekor kucing memerlukan kajian tentang komponen-komponen fitokimia, yangtelah terbukti mengandung flavonoid, terutama catechin dan catechol. Dalam upaya mendapatkan kandungancatecol dan catechin yang tinggi pada hasil ekstraksi dilakukan optimasi proses yang diawali dengan seleksibagian tanaman sebagai bahan baku dan bentuk sediaan yang akan digunakan dalam mengekstrak tanamantersebut. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui perbedaan kandungan catechin dan catechol padabagian tanaman ekor kucing berwarna hijau dan berwarna merah serta mengetahui bentuk sediaan bahanbaku berupa bahan baku segar atau kering (powder). Hasil pengujian menunjukkan bahwa bagian tanamanekor kucing (Cabomba furcata) berwarna hijau dan berwarna merah mengandung catechin dan catechol yangperbedaannya tidak nyata. Bentuk sediaan bahan baku kering menghasilkan rendemen catechin dan catecholyang lebih tinggi dibandingkan bahan segar. Penggunaan pelarut campuran methanol dan air memberikan hasil ekstrak yang tertinggi dibandingkan air dan n-Hexane.
