Abstract


ABSTRACTEchinacea purpurea(L.) Moench (ekinase) known as a medicinal plant in the Asteraceae family which used as immunomodulators.Ekinase has been successfully adapted and grow well in the collection garden of the Center forMedicinal Plant Research and Traditional Medicine Tawangmangu since 2002. Ekinase undergoes morphological variation during plant development. Studies have been conducted to characterise ekinase accession planted inR & D Center for Medicinal Plants and Traditional Medicine in order to gain promising accession for producingsuperior varieties. The research was carried out by planting ekinase in the same location then characterizeddifferences in morphology, growth, production, and total phenol content. The result found that 10 accessions ofE.purpurea comprise three groups (clusters) such as green, purple, and green purple stems. The highest plantheight (87.14 cm) obtained from the accession of the green stem 2 (GB2), the heaviest leaf dry weight (26.25grams) by the green stem 4 (BH4) accession, but the highest phenols levels in the leaves (0.88% ) produced bypurple green stem 1 (BHU1) accession. Green stems 3 (BH3) accession produce the highest flower dry weight(24.79 g) and phenol content in flowers (0.88%).

 

 

ABSTRAKEchinacea purpurea (L.) Moench yang dikenal dengan nama ekinase merupakan tanaman obat dari famili Asteraceaeyang potensial sebagai imunomodulator. Ekinase telah berhasil diadaptasikan dan tumbuh baik dikebun Balai Besar Litbang Tanaman Obat dan Obat Tradisional Tawangmangu sejak tahun 2002. Ekinase mengalamiperkembangan variasi morfologi selama ditanam. Telah dilakukan kajian karakteristik aksesi ekinaseyang ditanam di Balai Besar Litbang Tanaman Obat dan Obat Tradisional guna mendapatkan aksesi sebagai galurharapan dalam rangka menghasilkan varietas unggul. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan cara menanam tanamanekinase di lokasi yang sama kemudian dikarakterisasi perbedaan morfologi, pertumbuhan, produksi, dankandungan fenol total pada bagian tanaman. Dari penelitian yang dilakukan tersebut diketemukan 10 aksesiE.purpurea L. yang merupakan tiga kelompok (cluster) yaitu batang hijau, batang hijau ungu, dan batang ungu.Pertumbuhan tinggi tanaman tertinggi (87,14 cm) dihasilkan pada aksesi batang hijau 2 (BH2), bobot keringdaun yang terberat (26,25 gram) pada aksesi batang hijau 4 (BH4) namun kadar fenol pada daun tertinggi(0,88%) dihasilkan aksesi batang hijau ungu 1 (BHU1). Aksesi ekinase batang hijau 3 (BH3) menghasilkanbobot kering bunga (24,79gram) dan kadar fenol pada bunga (0,88%) yang merupakan hasil tertinggi.Kata kunci: karakterisasi, aksesi, ekinase
