PENCAPAIAN PEMBERIAN ASI SAMPAI DUA TAHUN DI INDONESIA

Abstract


One of the important roles in enhancing the quality of a person is providing breastfeeding. An exclusive breastfeeding during the first six months, and then followed by complementary food accompanying breast feeding for two years or more is a key for optimal growth and development. This study was to determine the coverage of breastfeeding for children up to aged two years. Using secondary data from Indonesia Health Demography Survei year (SDKI) 2002-2003. The SDKI year 2002-2003 interviewed 7.922 mother of under five children. Results showed that breastfeeding for babies aged up to one month were 95.5%, for babies to aged six months: 87.2%, for babies to aged 12 months: 72. 7%, for babies to aged 18 months: 51.1% and for babies to 24 months: just 11.1%. It is recommended to encourage private sector to support working women for breastfeeding.
